Students in Miss Jones’ class have been learning about human impact on Earth and have talked about ways to combat these issues. Today their task was to design a product that could help solve these issues on our planet. They used their creativity to come up with a homemade water filter to help water pollution and animal hideouts to help protect endangered species!

Congratulations to Ovid-Elsie High School’s Student of the Week, sophomore Alexis L! Alexis was nominated by her art teacher, Mrs. Kellogg because she comes to class every single day with a positive attitude and is a great role model for our school motto of being ‘respectful, responsible and her best!’. Alexis is caring and kind-hearted to everyone around her. She is helpful; never expecting any rewards or praise for doing so. She came to Ovid-Elsie this year from Wisconsin where she previously played volleyball. She keeps busy tending to her 4 horses, that she enjoys riding in her free time. Alexis also works on a cattle farm and after graduation, she plans to attend college to pursue something in agriculture. She says she’s thankful for being chosen as the Student of the Week and for Mrs. Kellogg for recognizing her!

Another great reason to tune in to Channel 6 WLNS at 5:30 tonight! Not only will our very own McKenzey V. be featured during the Extraordinary Student segment, but the Feel Good Friday segment will be about the safe winter driving-themed snow plow blade design by our National Art Honor Society!
See more about the plow at: https://www.michigan.gov/mdot/news-outreach/pressreleases/2023/11/16/mdot-unveils-paint-the-plow-project-and-urges-safe-driving-as-winter-approaches

OEHS students attended the Fall BPA Leadership Conference at Michigan State.

Thank you to Kingsley Insurance Group in St Johns for their generous donation to Ovid-Elsie FFA. Their grant will help cover transportation costs for members to participate in leadership events. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Today 10th grade students were given a presentation by coordinators from CCRESA about all of the amazing programs available to them next year. An email went out to them that included the link for the online application and instructions on completing the application process that they can share with you when they get home!

The MS Student Council has planned a Holiday Workshop as an after-school activity for middle schoolers. The workshops will be held in the IC on Thursdays between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm from November 30th to December 21st. As space is limited, students are requested to sign up in the MS Office for their preferred activity to give others an opportunity to participate. The cost of each workshop is $3, which includes materials for the craft, wrapping, and a light snack. Payment is due when signing up to reserve your spot.

Students in Mrs. Collin's Board Game Design class are working on holiday games. They are creating meeples using clay and painting their boards.
