First and second grade students at Leonard Elementary participated in an after school Science Club. Students are working on a very important mission, to protect and preserve the homes of animals across the country.
Before Thanksgiving break Mrs. Ramirez’s class celebrated the holiday by creating their own turkeys. Students learned about the different parts of a turkey and were then able to create their own using squash and art supplies that were donated to the classroom.
Students in Mrs. Murray’s class learned all about Tony Sarg, the creator of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. They used their phonics skills to travel from different balloon floats and used their own STEM skills to design their own balloon.

After listening to Balloons Over Broadway, by Melissa Sweet, the 4th grade students at EEK created their own balloon characters. They then held their own parade, walking through the other classrooms.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Throughout the past 3 weeks, the students in Mrs. McDowell's WIN groups have been talking about gratitude and being thankful. Students had the opportunity every morning to write something on a leaf that they were THANKFUL for. They enjoyed watching our tree flourish with thankfulness!!
