PJ and Slipper Day for filling our Awesomeness Ten Frame and enjoying our classroom prize of popsicles for smashing our classroom reading goal of 110 books read by almost 50 books. I think if you’d ask these kindergarteners, they would say it is a great way to start off the week!

If you haven't heard, THE CHICKS HAVE HATCHED! Thanks in part to MSU and the Shiawassee County Bureau, Mrs. Westenberg's Kindergarten Class was hatching some eggs. Check out these adorable chicks!
As part of March is Reading Month, the Shiawassee County Farm Bureau, in conjunction with our OE FFA and Miss Sandy Maynard, came to Leonard and read us a story called How to Grow a Monster. This fun story is about a Zucchini. Students got a learn more information about zucchinis and was able to hold a small zucchini. As an extension activity, students were also able to plant green beans to take home! Students also received an information card on corn and a word search! Thanks FFA and the Shiawassee County Farm Bureau!
Last week Thursday, we had a Mystery Listener at Leonard for March is Reading Month. Miss Danielle came into our classroom and listened to kiddos read. That was a pretty BIG DEAL for our Kindergartners. They did a great job and Miss Danielle was impressed!
Last Friday, as part of our PBIS at Leonard, we had MAD SCIENTIST! Students worked in partners and placed 30 Skittles on a small paper plate. One partner added cold water to the middle of their plate and the other partner added warm/hot water to their plate. Students had many hypotheses. Check out our outcome! The kiddos had a GREAT time (and got to eat 5 leftover Skittles). Thanks for creating this fun lesson, Mrs. Snelling!
At Leonard, Jasper's Mom came into our classroom last Thursday as another Mystery Reader for March is Reading Month! She read Little Excavator, How to Catch a Leprechaun and Hello Ninja!

We've had many Mystery Readers reading in Mrs. Sturdivant's Kindergarten class for March is Reading Month! This includes Jax's grandma, Jamie's mom and aunt, Charley's grandpa, and Sam's Dad! Thanks for reading to our class! We loved your stories!
Students in Mrs. Sturdivant and Mrs. Jones' classes put their hard work on display Friday and showed off their Leprechaun traps! All of Leonard was invited to check out the traps and ask questions including "did you catch a leprechaun?" Thanks for visiting, Leonard friends!
We had a special guest author visit Leonard on Friday! Thank you so much to Denise Brennan-Nelson for reading to us, sharing your illustrations and gifting each classroom a Buzzy poster! We had a great time!
☘️ Happy St. Patrick's Day from Mrs. Sturdivant's Class ☘️ We had a visit from the Leprechauns Thursday night and boy did they cause some chaos!! We had a crazy start to the day but we were so excited for our visit!
Middle school student council students and Dr. Petroelje were guest readers in the library this month. Students had a great time reading with and listening to our guests!
