Two Ovid-Elsie seniors from the Eaton RESA Heavy Equipment program (on-site at AIS Construction) qualified to move on to the SkillsUSA Regionals that will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Lansing Community College. Hunter H. will be competing in the Heavy Equipment Diesel Repair contest where he will work effectively and rotate through 8 timed stations related to diesel technology. Examples of his contest include troubleshooting an engine, checking fluid levels on a piece of machinery, looking up parts for a repair, and completing a welding process. Travis E. placed first in the local round of the Heavy Equipment Operator contest where he had to operate an excavator, skid steer, and a backhoe and maneuver them through a course. His competition will include a written test and showcase his skills in the use of all machines in a timed demonstration. SkillsUSA is a CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) that teaches students technical skills and provides leadership opportunities to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. Eaton RESA offers various career programs to its chapter of 100 students. Congratulations and best of luck to both at Regionals to Hunter and Travis!
