
OEMS celebrated Red Ribbon Week today by wearing the color red. Students also had an opportunity throughout the week to participate in a pledge to grow up safe, healthy, and drug free.


The results are in for the MS pumpkin carving and painting contest. Congratulations to the winners of the painted pumpkins: Kylynn for 1st place, Taylin for 2nd place, and Abygail for 3rd place. Also, congratulations to the winners of the carved pumpkins: Brielle for 1st place, Kelia for 2nd place, and Logan for 3rd place. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event. It was a difficult task to judge as all entries were of high quality.






Anyone looking to try on a basketball jersey for Red Cedar can stop by the Middle School on Saturday, October 28th between 5:00-6:30pm. Please turn your forms in on Friday so that the board can begin establishing numbers. Thank you!

On Friday, students in Miss Howes' class completed a fall art project by making coasters. After students were completed, they all joined in completing lessons on Duolingo. Students are absolutely loving discovering a new language!






We have kicked off Red Ribbon Week across the district to promote healthy choices and living drug free - check out the background on why Red Ribbon Week was started across the U.S. and check in with your kids about how they plan to abstain from drugs.


Leonard Elementary held a Family Tailgate last week. Almost 500 people attended and enjoyed dinner, a hayride and several fall themed activities. Thank you to all of the families that participated.






Ovid-Elsie Area Schools is currently seeking members for the O-E Sex Education
Advisory Board. As a member, you would be expected to:
● Regularly attend advisory board meetings and prepare for being an effective
member at the meetings as needed.
● Seek accurate and current information regarding content and instructional
strategies that will help them make informed decisions as board members and
practical recommendations to the board of education based on best practice.
● Be advocates and spokespersons for the board decisions and the adopted
program.
● Share ideas and concerns and work cooperatively in a way that maintains the
board as a partnership of people who are willing to work toward healthy sexual
development of youth and reducing sexual risk behaviors.
● Support the public hearing process for proposed program revisions.
● Contribute to an evaluation plan and report regarding attainment of program
goals and objectives.
● Respect the decisions of the board of education regarding their
recommendations.
Important reminders related to the composition of a sex education advisory board
include:
● At least 1/2 of the members of the sex education advisory board shall be parents
who have a child attending a school operated by the school district
● A majority of these parent members shall be individuals who are not employed by
a school district
● The board of a school district shall include pupils of the school district, educators,
local clergy, and community health professionals on the sex education advisory
board.
A reasonable effort shall be made to ensure that the advisory board shall consist of
members representing a cross-section of community viewpoints.
