Next Wednesday (5/8) will be the third and final round of RCAD mental health screening for our HS students by Clinton County RESA. This will help to determine eligibility for services during the summer months and ensure that students have access to the mental health support services needed when school is not in session. The screener is a short series of questions that students will answer through an online form to help us better understand how they are feeling at this present time and match them with services. If you have previously opted your student out of the screener, just inform them not to participate during the Advisory lesson and they will not be asked to complete it.
The HS Counseling Team will be visiting with 8th grade students this Friday (5/3) in Mr. Grandstaff's classroom to discuss their upcoming freshman year and classes that may be offered in addition to the requirements for graduation. A Google Form will be sent out to all 8th grade students at 3pm on Friday, so please be on the lookout for that in their school email and inquire with your student over the weekend to discuss options for next year and fill out that form. Please understand these are just class preferences and are not guaranteed. All schedules are created to ensure every student meets graduation requirements while balancing a number of other factors to determine placement.

Mrs. McDowell’s WIN group finished reviewing for their Math M-step by playing “MRS. M MAY I?” a version of Mother May I. Students solved math problems and then had to ask “Mrs. M may I?” If the answer was correct, the got to move forward the given number of spots. If it was wrong, sometimes they had to move back 😛 Students enjoyed doing this type of review instead of just paper and pencil!

Good luck to our Athletes competing today. Go Marauders!

Our class is growing caterpillars into butterflies. This week we moved the chrysalids into the butterfly garden. They will be in their chrysalids for about 7-10 days. While we wait for them to turn into butterflies, we made a bookmark of the process a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly and we made a cute butterfly craft for our lockers.

On Friday, Mrs. McDowell's WIN groups completed a WHODUNNIT game as a review for their upcoming Math M-step test. During this game, partners worked together to solve problems involving order of operations. Then depending on their answer, they would get a clue as to who didn’t do the crime, where it didn’t take place, and how it didn’t happen. These clues eliminated choices so they could finally solve “WHODUNNIT.”
