The OE FFA Chapter had an impressive showing at the 96th Michigan FFA Convention. Two groups of students demonstrated their skills on the Wharton Center stage in front of around 2,000 attendees. Morgan R. captivated the audience with her performance of "Stick Season" by Noah Kahan. Additionally, the demonstration team comprised of Josh M., Clay P., and Gavin W. clinched the title of 2024 State Winning FFA Team with their "Sap to Syrup" presentation, emerging as one of the two finalists. Cassidy H. achieved State Winner status in Swine Entrepreneurship, while several other chapter members received recognition for Outstanding Junior, Gold and Silver Academic Excellence, State Degrees, and Proficiency awards. State Degrees were conferred upon Abby T. (gold), Willow E. (silver), Cassidy H. (silver), and Dominic K. Proficiency Awards were earned by Cassidy H., Abby T., Willow E., and Josh M. Abby T. stood out as one of the three finalists for the Star Finalist in Production award. Trinity Z. was acknowledged for her involvement in Challenge 24, a program tailored for current FFA members aspiring to pursue a career in agricultural education. Congrats to all!

Shining the spotlight on Student of the Week, sophomore Ava K! Nominated by Dr. Faziani, because she is always engaged and friendly. Additionally, she is always willing to participate and make sure that her peers understand the material in a group or whole-class activity. Plus, she is open to new and challenging ideas in the classroom. Ava is a member of the Ovid-Elsie Girls Varsity Soccer team. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She’s maintained a 3.9 GPA. After high school, she plans to attend college but is currently undecided about her field of study.
