Congratulations to Ovid-Elsie High School’s Student of the Week, sophomore Travis M! He was nominated by Mrs. Meister because ‘Travis is a student who goes above and beyond for himself and his peers. He will ask questions during class to better understand the material, then turn around and take what he has learned to help his classmates. Travis is also extremely kind and patient with his classmates which is not a characteristic that many teenagers have with each other.’ Travis is active in Basketball, Football and Track. He will be competing at the State Track Meet this weekend in the 400-meter, 4x200 relay, and 4x400 relay. Travis is also in Student Council, a Marauder Athletic Council member, and a class of 2027 representative. His post-secondary plans include going to college for athletics and earning a degree in physical training.

Gratiot-Isabella Regional Education Service District, Clinton County Regional Educational Service Agency, Beal City Public Schools, Breckenridge Community Schools, Central Montcalm Public School, DeWitt Public Schools, Fulton Schools, Ovid-Elsie Area Schools, St. Johns Public Schools, and St. Louis Public Schools (jointly, a consortium known as MMNET) are each considering granting use of unlit fiber optic strains to Merit Network. Pursuant to the Michigan Telecommunications Act, a public hearing related to the proposed conveyances will be held on June 17 at 9 a.m. at Gratiot-Isabella RESD, 1131 E. Center St., Ithaca, MI 48846. More information about the proposed conveyances can be obtained by contacting Joe Smith, Systems Engineer, Gratiot-Isabella RESD, at 989-875-5101.

Picnic lunches are so much fun, especially with 22 friends! We took a picnic lunch before we headed out on our field trip to Potters Park. This was the first picnic ever for about 50% of the kids! Kindergarten is the place for many firsts!! What a great day to be a Kindergartener!!

Mad Scientist as a grade level, happened on May 21st on a beautiful sunny day. These scientists tried to launch their own Alka-Seltzer rocket. Some had success and others did not. If that happens, scientists try again or rethink the experiment and the steps. A pretty amazing sight with 100 kids simultaneously trying to launch a rocket!!!
