Rainy Day Announcements

Announcements Monday 05/24/2021:

Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Monday, May 24th, 2021.  Please stand for the pledge…..

Happy Birthday today to Anthony and Joey Z. Have a wonderful birthday guys!

Student Council have some fun events going on until the end of the year.  Our wee Mystery Marauder is on the walkabout, so keep an eye out for him to win your class an ice-cream treat on the last day of school. This time around, it is a class effort, so if you find him on your own, you must tell your class. Then send 1 person to the office to record the time & location. The WHOLE class needs to know about it before it can be reported to the office.

This Thursday and Friday you can buy a Cosmic Brownie for $1 or Cotton Candy for $2 at lunchtime and support ‘Prevent Child Abuse America’.

We will also be doing a Walk-A-Thon for the American Cancer Society on the track this Friday.  Student Council will be set up in the lobby Tuesday and Thursday morning selling ‘feet’ and taking your donation of $3 or more to participate.

Spring Dance tickets will also be on sale at lunchtime today and before school and lunch this week and next week Tuesday and Thursday.

It’s a brand new week full of possibilities!  Now prepare to be Motivated in the Motivational Monday Minute by the American author, journalist and publisher George Horace Lorimer!

Quote: “You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.”

We’re almost there guys!  Don’t run out of steam when you’re this close to the finish line!  Have a marvelous Monday everybody!

Announcements Tuesday 05/25/2021:

Today is Tuesday 25th May, 2021.  Please stand for the pledge…..

Happy Birthday to Alexis S. tomorrow on our Virtual Wednesday.  Have a great day Alexis!

Keep your eyes open for our wee Mystery Marauder.  He’s on the gadabout.  If you find him you must tell your cohort and then one student comes to the office to report the cohort, time and location. Congrats to Mr. Fluharty’s for finding it first yesterday, and all the other cohorts who found him too. There is a red scoreboard up next to the cafeteria doors.

Bring some dollars Thursday and Friday to buy a brownie or cotton candy and support ‘Prevent Child Abuse America’.

We will also be doing a Walk-A-Thon for the American Cancer Society on the track this Friday.  Student Council will be set up in the lobby just one more day (Thursday morning) selling ‘feet’ and taking your donation of $3 or more to participate. Here’s a sentence from the winning 7th grade charity essay about The American Cancer Society: In  2019, The ACS did 145 million dollars in cancer research. But since then, their funding have dropped by one-third. That's why they need your help and donations to fight cancer.

Have a terrific Tuesday everybody and remember it may not be easy but it will definitely be worth it!

Happy Birthday today to Alexis S.   Hope that you have a fantastic birthday Alexis!

Don’t forget that you can buy a brownie or cotton candy today at lunchtime and support ‘Prevent Child Abuse America’. Limit one item per student so you aren’t too sugared up!

If you missed it this morning, today at lunch would be your LAST chance to also donate $3 or more to the American Cancer Society to participate in Friday’s Walk-A-Thon.

Great job to Fluharty’s class for being the first to find the Marauder Dude on Tuesday. Today he’s in a unique spot, so keep your eyes out for him all day long. Don’t give up if you don’t find him right away. It may take some time. Remember, you need to tell your whole class first before a student comes down to the office.

Remember also that tickets are still available for the Spring Dance.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased before school and during your lunch.

And now it’s time to get our Science on with the Science Fact of the Week and the study of trees or ‘Dendrology’:

Fact : Did you know that oak trees appeared on our planet about 65 million years ago and that they do not produce any acorns until they are at least 50 years old.

Have a tremendous Thursday everybody!  Let’s make today RIDICULOUSLY amazing!
