Announcements 04/12/2021

Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Monday April 12th, 2021.

We are working online this week.

Happy Birthday yesterday to Cheyenne K and today to Alexah H.  Hope that you both have had wonderful birthdays!

And now prepare to be energized with the Monday Motivational Minute:

It’s so easy for all of us to wake up on a Monday morning thinking of all the obstacles that we have to overcome during the week but it’s merely the flipside of the coin to wake up and say to yourself, “Something wonderful is going to happen today.”.  Isn’t that a nicer way to start your week?  Don’t look for the lows, look forward to the highs and you will find that if you are looking for them, you might just find them.

Have an amazing Monday everybody!

Today is Tuesday April 13th, 2021.

We are online at this time, returning Mon, April 19th.  Please follow the schedule below, checking your school email and logging into Schoology for lessons and assignments DAILY.

Mornings: Remember, the morning is essential "asynchronous" time for students to check schoology & do independent work to be prepared for the afternoon live sessions.  This is not ‘free time’.

Afternoons: Afternoon "synchronous" sessions are live through Google Meet, and are joined by going to meet.google.com & typing in the teacher's room code.

Happy Birthday today to: Emily S, Thomas E and Benjamin W.  Have a fabulous day guys!  🎈

And now it’s time for something new, or should I say old?

On this day in History:

1743 - The future President Thomas Jefferson, drafter of the Declaration of Independence was born on April 13, 1743.

1870 - The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened in New York City.  Check it out at https://www.metmuseum.org/

1928 - The first nonstop flight from Europe to North America, took off from Ireland and landed safely on the small Canadian Island, Greenly Island.

Have a terrific Tuesday!  Let’s make today ridiculously amazing!

Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Thursday April 15th, 2021.

We have some students with birthdays today:  Happy Birthday to Meadow E, Kody A and Caleb W!  Have a fantastic day guys!!!

I’m sure that you are all very familiar with the virtual schedule by now so let’s move right along to the Science Facts of the Week and today they’re all about WATER:

Fact: By the time that you feel thirsty, you’ve already lost about 1% of your body’s water so DRINK UP!!

Fact: One bucket full of water contains more atoms than there are buckets of water in the Atlantic ocean.  That's a LOT of atoms!!!

Have a terrific Thursday everybody and don’t forget, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” (Charles R. Swindoll)

Announcements 04/16/2021

Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Friday April 16th, 2021.

We are online at this time, with a scheduled return on MONDAY, April 19th.

Today is a half day so please check in with your teachers and Schoology for grade specific instructions on your schedule.

Antigen testing for athletes will begin Monday, April 19th BEFORE school at 7:30am, in the High School Gymnasium.   Bus riders will get off the bus and go inside to test as soon as they arrive at the school (they do not have to wait until 7:45am).  Students who are driven to school can be dropped off at the High School at 7:30am.  Testing will be done as quickly as possible so that students do not miss any portion of class.   The timing of these tests has been changed so that any positives can be identified before these athletes enter the classroom.

The MAT program in the High School is scheduled to resume Monday 4/19.

Happy Birthday today to: Chase T and this weekend to Chloe P and Sophie O.  Have a wonderful birthday guys!

Finally, it’s the happiest time of the week, Mrs Holley’s Chuckle Time:

Question: What does it mean when you find a horseshoe?

Answer: There's a horse somewhere walking around in his socks. (Groan!!!)

Have a fabulous Friday and we’ll see you back in person next week!
