Welcome Back

Announcements 01/11/2021

Good afternoon staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Monday January 11th, 2021.  Please stand for the pledge...

Welcome Back!!!

We are so happy to be back in the building together.  Let’s everybody remember a few rules to keep us all healthy and able to be here:

  • You MUST wear a mask at all times, unless you are eating or are   on a designated mask break outdoors.  This means that at lunchtime the mask goes back on as soon as you are done with your meal!

  • You MUST maintain social distancing to the best of your ability.

We are back to a six period schedule today.  This is the schedule that we had before going 100% online.

If you are a MVP you will also go back to the online schedule of asynchronous learning that you were using before the switch to 100% virtual.  Don’t forget the importance of submitting every assignment for every class AND attending Wednesday Google Meets - these are a requirement for both F2F and MVP students.

Have an amazing Monday everybody!!

Today is Tuesday January 12th, 2021.

Good job yesterday getting back into our face to face routines and returning to the old mvp schedule.  Let’s continue to wear our masks over our mouth and noses unless we are eating and keep socially distanced.

It’s been brought to our attention that some students are bringing their cell phones into the classroom in Chromebook bags and pockets.  Cell phones MUST be turned off upon entering the building and placed in lockers.  If students have their phone out of the locker after entering the building they will be blue slipped and the phone will be brought to the office.  2nd offense requires parent pick up, 3rd offense will result in a half day ISS and parent pick up.

Our school counselors are partnering with Ele’s Place to offer virtual grief groups. Any student that has experienced the loss of someone can participate. Please see Mrs. Spicer or Ms. Windsor for more information. Parents can also refer students to this group. Please email monica.spicer@ovidelsie.org.

A reminder that tomorrow is a virtual day for all students.  Please attend your advisory meets promptly at 8:30, they are a requirement for ALL students both face-to-face and Online.

Have a terrific Tuesday everybody and keep smiling!

Today is Friday January 15th, 2021.

A reminder that there is no school on Monday due to Martin Luther King Day so enjoy your long weekend!

The Athletics Department has announced that there will be no Middle School Cheer this year.

NWEA testing is next week, beginning with Math on Tuesday.  Online and F2F students will be taking the test at the same time, beginning at 8:00am.  MVP students must accept the Google Meet invite from Mrs. Spicer.

It looks like we’re going to be getting some snow over the weekend so let’s look at snow in our weekly Science Corner:

Question: What color is snow?

Answer:  Snow is not, in fact, white; it is colorless.  Generally snow and ice appear to be white because light striking the surface of the snow is scattered and is reflected back containing all the colors, which together, look white.

Here’s our birthdays for today and over the long weekend:
