Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Monday October 6th, 2025.  Please stand for the pledge…..

Happy Birthday today to Christy W. Have a wonderful birthday guys!

Good morning, Marauders! As you might know, October is Bullying Prevention Month. This is a time for all of us to come together and make our school a kinder, safer place for everyone.

Here’s a quick fact: Studies show that about 1 in 5 students experiences some form of bullying each year. But the good news is that when schools have strong peer support and mentoring, those numbers can go down.

That’s where all of you come in! Our student leadership group, the SMILEYs, is dedicating this month to focusing on how we can support each other. We’re rolling out a mentoring program where older students can help younger ones navigate challenges and create a more positive environment for everyone.

So let’s make this October all about lifting each other up. If you see someone who needs a friend or if you want to be part of our mentoring efforts, reach out and let’s make a difference together. Remember, we’re all in this as one big Marauder family!

Book Fair is happening this week, Monday to Thursday.

Picture retakes are today.  You must have a picture packet in the office if it is your intention to have your picture retaken.

There is an FFA meeting tomorrow morning, in Miller’s room, from 7:30-7:50am.

LUNCH:

Chicken tenders, dinner roll, carrot sticks, pears and milk.

And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday so pop your thinking caps on and teachers dial 1420 when you have heard the entire question and your class has an answer:

Question: What marsupial is the only animal on earth to produce cube shaped poop?

Answer: Wombat.

Class: Mr. Snyder

Note: A wombat’s intestines are 10 times the size of a wombat itself, meaning digestion takes 4xs as long as in a human and makes really dry poop.  Inside the intestine are rubber band type structures which squeeze and contract 40,000 times to make a cube shape and squared off corners.

This, results in cube-shaped poops unique to wombats. The marsupial then stacks the cubes on rocks and logs - the higher the better so as to communicate with and attract other wombats.

Have a marvelous Monday everybody!

A wee message from Mr Snyder:

As we keep the conversation going for Bullying Prevention Month, I want to ask you all a few questions to think about. Have you noticed a friend who’s suddenly skipping lunch with the group and sitting alone more often? Have you seen someone who seems to be hiding torn clothing or damaged items? Or maybe you've noticed a classmate who used to be really talkative, but now they’re a lot quieter or seem down?

These are little signs that someone might be going through a tough time. And if you’ve noticed any of these things, remember that a simple act of kindness can go a long way. Check in on them, let them know they’re not alone, and if you’re ever unsure, reach out to a teacher or a SMILEY mentor.

Let’s keep making our school a place where everyone feels safe and supported. Thanks for listening and have a great day!

7th & 8th grade girls interested in volleyball can sign up in the office and pick up an informational flier.

LUNCH:

Beef nachos, beans, applesauce and milk.

Have a terrific Tuesday everybody and remember it may not be easy but it will definitely be worth it!

Today, as we continue to talk about Bullying Prevention Month, let’s think about the roles we all play in making our school a kinder place. Each of us has a choice when we see something happening—we can either stand by silently or we can be the voice that makes a difference.

If you ever find yourself as a bystander, remember how powerful your role is. Instead of just watching or laughing along, you can choose not to pass on hurtful messages or not to take pictures that make the situation worse. Instead, you can help by not giving bullying an audience. When you choose not to snicker, not to gather around, and not to encourage negative behavior, you’re actually making a huge impact.

Being an upstander doesn’t always mean you have to confront someone directly; it can be as simple as supporting the person who’s being targeted or letting an adult know. Every little action counts, and together we can create a safer space for everyone provided.

Again a reminder about assignments and tardies, some of our our grade levels are working on their grade level reward celebrations and some of the requirements are no missing assignments and 2 or less tardies.  You do not want to miss out so, if you have missing assignments, get those completed and turned in, and, as always, get into class, with all of your necessary materials, ready to work and on time.

LUNCH:

Italian sub, side salad, fruit slushie and milk.

It’s Hump Day and we now have the inspirational quote of the week from St. Augustine to get you over the hump:

Quote:

"Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it. Right is right, even if no one is doing it."

Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody!  We’re halfway there so let’s make the rest of this week really count!

October is Bullying Prevention Month, and today we’re focusing on what we post online. Did you know that about 1 in 4 students — 27% — say they’ve been cyberbullied in the past month? That means someone you know could be hurting from something said or shared online.

Before you post, ask yourself: Would I say this to someone’s face? Could this hurt someone’s feelings or reputation? Once something is online, it can last forever.

Let’s make our digital footprint one of kindness, respect, and integrity — both in person and online. 💙

Let’s have an ‘orange-out’ on Friday to show our support for anti-bullying.  Wear your orange gear!!  Ducks and orange beaded necklaces will also be sold for $1 each.

The 8th grade Citizenship class are doing a fundraiser to support the Marauder Closet/Citizenship Activities.  It is Marauders on the Run - The Monster Mile and it is happening Friday October 24th during 7th hour.  You must sign up by October 17th to guarantee a t-shirt and bring money to the office, or to Mrs. Collins.

Our Cross Country team raced through the trails at Uncle John’s Cider Mill yesterday — and what a day it was! Drew “The Donut Lord” J. and three other boys crushed their previous bests with personal records! On the girls’ side, Bella S. is now just 4 seconds away from breaking the 8th-grade school record, and her sister isn’t far behind — only 33 seconds from topping big sister’s time!

The team will meet in Mr. Snyder’s room after school today. And remember… if you didn’t PR yesterday, Mr. Snyder wants HIS donuts for payment!

LUNCH:

Pizza, green beans, pineapple and milk.

We will have concessions tomorrow at the end of the day so bring your monies for the sugar sling!

Have a tremendous Thursday everybody!  Let’s make today RIDICULOUSLY amazing!

Happy Birthday today to Landon P. Have a wonderful birthday Landon!!  Over the weekend Channing C. has a birthday.  Have a great day Channing!

If you still have $$ to spend at the Book Fair, this is your last chance.  It is packing up and leaving us this morning.

Today we are wearing orange to show our support for anti-bullying.   Ducks and orange beaded necklaces are also being sold for $1 each.

Have you ever wondered why so many people are wearing orange today? It’s not just a fashion choice—it’s a statement.

We wear orange to stand together against bullying. Orange is the color of hope, support, and encouragement. It shows that we are united in creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive school for everyone.

Today is Unity Day, a special day during Bullying Prevention Month where people across the country wear orange to send one message loud and clear: No one deserves to be bullied.

By wearing orange, you're showing that you care. You're telling your classmates that kindness, acceptance, and inclusion matter. And you're reminding others that our school is a place where everyone should feel safe and supported.

So if you’re wearing orange today—thank you. You’re making a difference. And if you’re not, that’s okay too—just remember that it’s our actions every day that matter most.

Let’s keep spreading kindness and standing up for one another. Thanks, Marauders—and have a great day!
