Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Monday March 18th, 2024.  Please stand for the pledge…..

As the spring season dawns upon us, it's about time to lace up those running shoes and channel your inner speed demon because Track and Field season is almost here! 🌟

Today, we're putting the spotlight on one of the most exhilarating events in Track and Field: the 100m Dash. Imagine the rush of adrenaline as you explode out of the blocks, sprinting towards the finish line in a blur of speed and determination!

  • It's not just about speed; it's about precision, power, and technique. The 100m Dash demands explosive strength and lightning-fast reflexes. It's the ultimate test of pure speed, where every millisecond counts.

Now, let's take a moment to recognize our school record holders for this electrifying event:

Back in 2003 the Girls' 100m Dash Record was broken by Charlie Kurtz with an astonishing time of 12.7 seconds!

And the Boys' 100m Dash Record Holder is none other than Cooper Beard who made history in 2016 with a blazing time of 11.55 seconds!

These remarkable athletes have left an indelible mark on our school's Track and Field legacy, showcasing the epitome of speed and excellence. But remember, records are made to be broken, and the next record holder could be YOU!

So, Marauders, if you're ready to chase glory, push your limits, and leave a legacy on the track, then sign up for Track and Field today! Whether you're a sprinting sensation or a long-distance warrior, there's a place for everyone on our team.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of something special. Join Track and Field, and let's sprint towards success together!

And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday so pop your thinking caps on and teachers dial 1420 when you have heard the entire question and your class has an answer:

Question: Which American city has dyed its river green for St Patrick’s Day since 1962?

Answer: Chicago.

Note: In the original stunt, the river stayed green for a week, while the dye used today lasts only about four hours. The city uses a plant-based dye that is orange until turning green upon contact with water.

Why Chicago Turns Its River Green for St. Patrick's Day

Class: Grandstaff.

Have a marvelous Monday everybody!

Today, we're turning our attention to a mesmerizing event that combines athleticism with grace: the Long Jump. Picture yourself soaring through the air, defying gravity with every powerful stride and landing with precision and poise into a sandy pit.

Like the 100m dash, speed is important but so is technique and explosive power for this event.  The Long Jump requires a perfect blend of sprinting prowess and jumping ability.  It's a thrilling showcase of athleticism, where every leap is a testament to determination and skill.

Now, let's celebrate our school record holders who have left their mark in the sand:

The Girls' Long Jump Record Holder is Sydney Cowgill with an incredible jump of 14 feet, 1.5 inches!  Evan Morris broke the Boys' Long Jump Record in the same memorable year of 2015 with a remarkable jump of 18 feet, 1.5 inches! 🏆

It's worth noting that Evan Morris, known for his prowess on the football field as an MSU tight end, also showcased his exceptional talent on the track by setting this record. Truly a testament to his extraordinary athleticism!

These record-breaking performances stand as a testament to the dedication, skill, and determination of our Marauders. But remember, records are meant to be challenged, and the next record holder could be YOU!

So, Marauders, if you're ready to take flight, push your boundaries, and make your mark in the sand, then sign up for Track and Field today! Whether you're a sprinter, a jumper, or a distance runner, sign up for Track and Field today there's a place for everyone on our team.
