There will be a JV Football Sign-up meeting for 8th Grade Boys next Tuesday, March 5th, at 7:45 am. Please meet in the Middle School Gym at this time.

Save your pennies cos the book fair is coming next week during the school day and on Thursday during PT conferences.  There will be an early viewing available this week.  

The Middle School Chess Team had a Fantastic showing at the State Tournament! Finishing with a record of 3 wins and 2 losses! This is the best showing for a young program with strong play from all the players. Winning a Bronze medal playing first board was Levi W with a record of 3-5 wins, placing strong on board 2 was Ben Z with a record of 3-2,  on board 3 with a great result was Thomas E with a record of 3-2, and playing exceptional chess on board 4 was Maxwell P with a record of 3-2. Great job team! If you are interested in Spring chess see Mr. Elliott.  A big thank you to Mr Elliott for all of his hard work with the team throughout the year and to Mr Ormsbee for assisting with driving the team.

Happy Birthday today to our very own Mr Belill.  He’s as wise and old as Yoda, as loyal and dedicated as Obi-Wan, as silly as R2-D2 and can throw a rager better than Darth and the Emperor combined!  Have a wonderful birthday Mr B!

Track sign ups for 6th, 7th and 8th grade are tomorrow morning at 7:40am in the gym.

Thursday lunchtime we will have sign ups for 7th and 8th grade girls’ softball.

There is Science Olympiad practice on Thursday after school.

It’s Hump Day and we now have the inspirational quote of the week to get you over the hump:

Quote:  “The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital.”

This is so true in every part of life, whether you are hoping to become more successful in athletics, school, a skill such as art, music, woodworking, practice is the ONLY way to improve, you need the will to keep working at it.

There is Science Olympiad practice this afternoon, after school.

Tomorrow is the beginning of March is Reading Month.  The LA department have lots of fun activities planned to encourage reading.

We will have concessions tomorrow at the end of the day so bring your monies for the sugar sling! 

Finally, a fun fact for my friends who were asking me how high a kangaroo can jump, the answer is that the highest recorded jump is 10 feet high, and how far can the average red kangaroo jump?   25 to 30 feet!

March 15th and 16th, the OEMS Performing Arts Dept will be presenting Legally Blonde.  Tickets can be purchased online.

We also have the staff Marauder of the Month to announce.  You voted and the results are in!  We want to recognize our lunch monitor and print center super star, Mrs Brooke, as our Marauder of the Month!!  Without Mrs Brooke’s sweet nature and endless patience, the cafeteria would be a much more chaotic and unpleasant place to be.  She has a smile and a kind word for every student and is able to withstand noise that would make a death metal band complain that it’s too loud.  Thank you Mrs Brooke for everything that you do to make our school a better place!!
