Announcements Monday 12/11/2023:

Good morning staff and students!  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world.  Today is Monday November 11th, 2023.  Please stand for the pledge…..

Please check the lost and found for your belongings before they are donated at the end of next week.

Our Spirit Day tomorrow is Holiday Shirt day and Wednesday is Santa Day.

You can still sign up for the Thursday, after school, holiday craft workshop by your Student Council.  It is $3 to sign up.

Candy Gram Sales start today in the cafeteria at lunchtime.  Candy grams are $1 a piece.

We have an important announcement. Last night, several of Santa's hard working elves somehow managed to escape the North Pole and have now hidden themselves all throughout our middle school. We need your help tracking them down and returning them safely home!

If you find a silly little elf hiding anywhere - maybe in your locker, under your desk, in the hallway, or in the classroom - carefully pick him or her up and write your first and last name on the back. Then bring the elf to the main office so we can ship the rascal back to Santa before Christmas Eve!

We will be awarding prizes randomly to some of the students who rescue Santa's stray elves. And next Thursday, the one student who has found and returned the most elves will receive a special mystery grand prize!

So keep your eyes peeled today, and every day this week, for any sign of our mischievous little North Pole visitors. Let's work together to get Santa's hardworking but playful elves back to him safe and sound. Happy elf hunting!

And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday so pop your thinking caps on and teachers dial 1420 when you have heard the entire question and your class has an answer:

Question: What is the name of the villain in the movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”?

Answer: Oogie Boogie

Class:  Grandstaff.

Have a marvelous Monday everybody!

Happy Birthday to Owen H, Sierra S today, Brandon M, Raven P and Robert C over the weekend. Have a sensational birthday guys!

We are getting complaints from Mr Tokar that our MS students are walking up to the HS.  If you do not have a band or PA class to attend, you may not go up to the HS without a pass from the office.  This includes walking a friend up to the band room.

Please check the lost and found for your items.  They will be donated next week.

Our Spirit Days next week begin with Blizzard Day or white-out on Monday, Holiday Hats on Tuesday and Dress Your Best on Wednesday.

We have some very exciting and bittersweet news to share today regarding a game of fame happening right here in our classrooms.

Over the past semester, students in Mr. Snyder's class have been testing their knowledge of important world leaders, notable authors, and historic trail blazers through the "Name the Stars to Claim 100 Bars" challenge. This difficult contest required students to identify 110 iconic famous figures displayed on Mr. Snyder's classroom walls.  Everyone from historical figures like Cesar Chavez to music artists like Garth Brooks to sports heroes like Michelle Kwan and relative unknowns like David Hartwig & Skidboot.

After months of patience, perseverance, and peer assistance, we finally have our first winner! Join me in congratulating 7th grader Eli W for completing this feat and winning the cash prize!

Eli serves as inspiration that hard work truly does pay off in the end. And for those still trying to figure out those final few mysterious celebrities on Mr. Snyder’s wall, keep at it! With grit and teamwork, you never know, maybe next semester the prize may be yours.

And now it’s time for the best time of the week, Ms Holley’s Chuckle Time:

Question:  What do you call Santa after he’s spent all his money on Christmas pressies?

Answer: Saint-nickel-less.

Have a fantastic Friday everybody!   It looks like today is a great day to have a great day!!
