Announcements 2/26/2019

Good Morning staff and students welcome back to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world. Today is Tuesday February 26th, 2019.  Please stand for the pledge: I pledge allegiance to the flag …

  • Our Kindness Challenge this week is an easy one: SMILE!  When you smile, people treat you differently. You’re viewed as attractive, reliable, relaxed, and sincere and this is because seeing a smiling face activates the region in your brain that process sensory rewards. This suggests that when you view a person smiling, you actually feel rewarded.  So SMILE!!

  • Student Challenge will be combined with the HIGH SCHOOL this week on THURSDAY in the HIGH SCHOOL WOODSHOP from 7:15AM to 7:45AM

  • Congratulations to our February Students of the Month.

    • For 6th grade we have Grace R and Brayden

    • For 7th grade we have Rian  Kand Mason R

    • For 8th grade we have Kayla C and Avien A

We are so proud of you for your hard work as students and your positive citizenship in our school community!  Please come down to the office after announcements so that we can take your pictures and give you your certificates.  Justin C please come to the office also.

  • Attention 8th graders, the results of the 8th Grade America and Me Essay Contest are in.  Congratulations to all who participated and put so much time into recognizing their Michigan heroes.

3rd Place: Amelia H

2nd Place: Gavin C

The 1st place winner's essay will advance to the state level competition, from which the top ten essays in Michigan will be selected.  The top ten statewide winners, who will be announced in April, will each receive a plaque, a medallion, and a cash award of $1,000.  They will also be honored at a banquet in Lansing, and will meet with Michigan's top governmental leaders.

The 1st place essay contest winner at Ovid-Elsie Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year is Faith R!  Good luck Faith as you compete to be the statewide winner, and congratulations Amelia and Gavin.

Have a Terrific Tuesday!
