Good Morning staff and students  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world. Today is Monday, October 21st, 2019.  Please stand for the pledge: I pledge allegiance to the flag …

  • For our Kindness Challenge this week let’s work on making social media a force for good!  Begin by realizing that sharing negative content is no different from gossiping. You can stop the damage by just not sharing!

  •  Campus Life is coming to our Middle School!  Campus Life is open to all grades and offers something for everyone.  Campus Life will meet every Monday starting November 18th from 3:15-4:45.  For questions, please see Mr. Hazle or Mrs. Willbanks.

  • And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday, Teachers please call Extension 1420 when you have heard the entire question and remember, NO HELPING:

    • Question: What University did Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford attend?

    • Answer: Georgia

    • Notes: Stafford played at Georgia thru his junior season after which he was drafted #1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Lions.

Have a marvelous Monday!  And remember, it’s always a great day to have a great day!

  • For our Kindness Challenge this week let’s work on making social media a force for good!  Post something positive today, something that you are grateful for whether it’s a friend, a family member, a pet, or simply pie!!  The important thing is to turn the tide of social media from complaining and tattling to positive!

  • There will be a robotics practice tomorrow after school for the following teams:  business, scout, social media, digital media, and web design.

  • There is a student council meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 sharp. Please be on time, as we have a lot of information to go through. The meeting will be in the student work room again. Reminder: last meeting’s homework was to get the pink paper filled out by a parent & to think of ideas to make our school better to share at tomorrow’s meeting.

  • Reality Fair for the 8th grade students will be the afternoon of November 1st. 8th grade are doing a food drive, which will give them a $25 tax credit for the reality fair for every non perishable item they bring for donation to the Elsie foodbank.

  • The 7th grade pulled through a team effort and downed the hornets of New Lothrop tonight to increase their record to 10-1 on the season with only Lakeville remaining on Wednesday.

  • The 8th grade Lady Marauders didn't see things go their way to start the game, falling to a 4-16 deficit in the first quarter. All the ladies faced their gut check and started pulling together - a testament to their heart! Starting in the 2nd quarter we pulled it together defensively and went into half down 9-16. The rest of the game the ladies played their hearts out - only allowing 9 more points the rest of the way. The game finished out a marauder victory 34-25. That clinches the conference for the 8th grade at 11-0 with Lakeville to play on Wednesday.

  • Reminder to yearbook staff that we are meeting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during lunch every week.

Have a terrific Tuesday!  And remember, it’s always a great day to have a great day!

  • For our Kindness Challenge this week let’s work on making social media a force for good!  A good rule of thumb for life is, never post in anger; take a breath, walk away and go and do something else for a bit.  We rarely make good choices when our minds are ruled by emotion.

  • If it is your day to be in the gym in the morning you must be in the gym, NOT walking the hallways, hanging out at lockers or sitting in the cafeteria.  7th grade are in the gym tomorrow morning.

  • Student Challenge is this Thursday in the Student Workroom.

  • A new program full of exciting games, activities and challenges is coming to our school November 18th.  Campus Life is a program that’s hard to explain, so you’ll have to come experience it yourself. Campus Life will be every Monday immediately after school in Mr. Hazle’s room in the IC.

  • 8th grade: Please bring in non-perishable items for the Elsie Food Bank and receive your $25 tax credit per item for the Nov 1st Reality Store.

  • Reminder to yearbook staff that we are meeting every Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtime.

  • And now it’s time for the happiest time of the week and we have a Halloween Chuckle Time for you:

    • Question:  Why does Dracula need mouthwash?

    • Answer:  Because he has bat breath.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
