Good Morning staff and students  Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world. Today is Monday, September 16th, 2019.  Please stand for the pledge: I pledge allegiance to the flag …

  • For this week’s Kindness Challenge: this week let's look outside ourselves and concentrate on the positive in others.  We all spend lots of time stuck in our own heads. Give yourself a break and think about someone else for a bit. Give a genuine compliment to someone everyday this week and you'll both feel good!

  • Please remember that the cafeteria is only open to you if you are eating school breakfast in the morning.  Take care of your mess before you leave your table both at breakfast and lunch.

  • Mr. Kingsbury is still looking for 8th grade students to take pictures for this year’s yearbook.  You must be able to attend after school sporting events to do this. If you are interested, please stop in and see him.

  • And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday, Teachers please call Extension 1420 when you have heard the entire question and remember, NO HELPING:

    • Question: What is the fastest a human can run in mph?

    • Answer: 23.4 mph

    • Notes: The fastest person clocked on our planet today is the Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt, who ran the 100-meter sprint at the 2008 Olympics in 9.58 seconds, which works out to be about 23.4 miles per hour

Have a marvelous Monday!  And remember, it’s always a great day to have a great day!

  • For this week’s Kindness Challenge: we are looking for the positive in others and telling them what we see.  An effective compliment must be genuine, is more effective if it is specific and even better when it compliments somebody’s hard work

  • The OE 8th grade girls basketball team won a convincing victory last night over Byron 55-2 to start their season at 1-0. A suffocating defense led the way in a game that saw 10 of 13 Lady Marauders score, with everyone playing significant minutes. The girls travel Wednesday to face the Panthers of Mt. Morris.

  • Please remember that the cafeteria is only open to you if you are eating school breakfast in the morning.  Please take care of all of your garbage!

  • We are very excited to announce that Mrs Kirby finished her long journey of cancer treatments last Friday and is CANCER FREE!!  Let’s make this Thursday a Wear Pink for Mrs Kirby day to celebrate with her. Friday is still Blue & Gold Marauder Day. Teachers may wear jeans both days.

  • Finally we have one student birthday today:  Happy birthday Ava K! Have a great day!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

  • For this week’s Kindness Challenge: when you give a compliment to someone outside your own friend group it means even more!  Our brains rationalize that a person who is not your friend has nothing to benefit from saying something nice about you so it must be genuine.  So let’s find somebody new to compliment.

  • Middle School Student Challenge is this Thursday at 7:15AM in the Student Work Room.  All students and staff are welcome to attend.

  • Mr. Kingsbury would like to meet with the following 8th grade students at the beginning of lunch today for a brief minute: Katelyn N, Julienna B, Jolee S, Audrey J, Haylee P, Genevieve H, Amy D and Orion T.

  • A reminder on Thursday to wear pink in celebration with Mrs Kirby.

  •  Friday is Blue & Gold Marauder Day.

  • We have a student's birthday today:  Happy birthday Lealynn K! Have a great day!

  • And now the best time of the week ..Mrs Holley’s Chuckle Time, except this week you are in for a treat!  This one is brought to you courtesy of Karigann, Haylee and Sonja!

Question: What do you call a 12 inch nose?

Answer: A foot.

Have a great Wednesday!

Let’s make today RIDICULOUSLY amazing!

Announcements 09/19/2019

  • For this week’s Kindness Challenge: be the reason that somebody smiles today, look for something that you admire in somebody else and let them know how much you appreciate it.

  • A reminder that you must not go in the gym in the morning UNTIL there is a staff member present.  We’ve had students hanging out in there even when the lights are off and it is patently obvious that you may NOT be in there.  This is a safety issue!

  • Another night of stifling defense led the way for the 8th grade Lady Marauders, as they improved their record to 2-0 on the season with a 47-5 win over Mt. Morris. In only two games, every Lady Marauder has already scored - showing the true team effort it has been. OE picks action back up next Monday at home against Montrose.

  •  Friday is Blue & Gold Marauder Day.

  • We have a 2 student birthdays today:  Happy birthday to Adele and Cale J and a very special staff birthday: Happy Birthday to our very own kind and caring school counselor Mrs Spicer!!  Have an amazing day today guys!
