Announcements Monday 05/11/2026:
Good morning staff and students! Welcome to Ovid-Elsie Middle School where we are inspiring life-long learners to achieve their full potential and excel in a changing world. Today is Monday May 11th, 2026. Please stand for the pledge…..
Happy Birthday today to a very special staff member. She brings music to EEK, to our MS and to the HS! How she handles 7 hours a day of all that noise without her head exploding is a miracle to me but I suspect Red Bull might have something to do with it! Have a wonderful birthday Mrs Ignash! Maybe you can spend a bit of time in a dark, silent room for your birthday!!!
The Track Team members will be dismissed today at 2:25pm for their Invitational at Fowler High School - good luck guys!
LUNCH:
Lasagna roll up, side salad, peach cup and milk.
And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday and we haven’t had an art question in a while. Pop your thinking caps on and teachers dial 1420 when you have heard the entire question and your class has an answer:
Question: The French Impressionist artist Claude Monet was most famously known for his paintings of what subject?
Answer: Waterlilies
Class: Mrs. Cook
Note: Claude Monet is most famously known for his paintings of water lilies at his Giverny home. He painted over 250 water landscapes focusing on ponds and lilies in Giverny. His most expensive water lilies painting, Nymphéas en fleur (c. 1914-1917), sold for $84.7 million at a Christie's New York auction in 2018.
Have a marvelous Monday everybody!

Marauder Track & Field — Morning Announcement
Yesterday our team traveled to the Fowler MS Invite and competed against a strong nine-team field that included DeWitt, Lansing Area Catholic, Grand Ledge, and Fowler. When the dust settled:
Girls finished 4th overall.
Boys finished 8th overall.
A tough field, and our athletes battled. A few moments worth recognizing:
On the girls' side
Bella S. won the 400-meter dash in 1:04.78 — a personal best and a meet championship.
Isabelle I. took 1st place in the pole vault for the second meet in a row.
Sofia C. ran the open 800 and then came back to anchor the 4x800 — two of the toughest races on the program in one afternoon.
And 6th graders Addison K. and Peyton G. stepped up to run open 200 and 400-meter races against 8th-grade competition because the team needed points.
On the boys' side
7th grader Jackson K. posted three personal bests in one meet — the 100, the 200, and the high jump — racing up against 8th-grade competition all day.
Hunter H. tripled up again in the 800, 1600, and 3200, setting a personal best in the 800 in the middle of all that distance work.
And the boys 4x800 relay of Drew J., Lucas B., Lincoln P., and Carter B. toed the line with two 6th graders in the lineup. They didn't have to run it. They ran it anyway.
PRACTICE TODAY AFTER SCHOOL — MEET IN THE GYM.
LUNCH:
Chicken Quesadilla, black beans, mandarin oranges and milk.
Have a terrific Tuesday everybody and remember it may not be easy but it will definitely be worth it!
