  • Mr Hazle’s Gym Classes: do not dress for gym, take a book or homework to Mr Grandstaff’s room 1st hour.  Fluharty-2nd, Belill-3rd, Clarizio-5th, Wertz’s-6th, Huhn’s-7th.

  • Attention 8th graders, the results of the 8th Grade America and Me Essay Contest are in.  Congratulations to all who participated and put so much time into recognizing their Michigan heroes.

3rd Place: Kylie D

2nd Place: Genevieve H

The 1st place winner's essay will advance to the state level competition from which the top ten essays in Michigan will be selected.  The top ten statewide winners will each receive a plaque, a medallion, and a cash award of $1,000. They will also be honored at a banquet in Lansing, and will meet with Michigan's top governmental leaders.

The 1st place essay contest winner at Ovid-Elsie Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year is Lindsey W!  Good luck Lindsey as you compete to be the statewide winner, and congratulations Kylie and Genevieve.

  • Attention Middle School Science Olympiad Team: Practice has been cancelled for today and is rescheduled for Wednesday.

  • Student Council Members: Wear your student council shirt this Wednesday for a group picture.  We also have a meeting Wednesday at 7:30 in Mrs Kirby’s room. Wear your shirt!

  • Happy Birthday to Gracie B and Joseph K, Kaitlyn A, Joel G, Damien C and Norberto H who celebrated their birthdays over the weekend.  Noah W is celebrating his birthday today. Happy Birthday Noah!

  • Tomorrow is ‘Wear Your Cause’ Day.

  • And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday.  Teachers call 1420 when you have heard the entire question:

  • This week’s kindness challenge is how to make small changes to your daily routine to be a better person.  Begin by setting your alarm 10 mins earlier so that you are not rushed and stressed in the morning.

  • Attention Teachers: Presentation for this morning will not work as a PairDeck so just present as normal.

  • Please make sure that you are leaving the gym and hallways by 7:50 in the morning and are in your seat, ready to work and to listen to announcements by 7:55am.

  • Attention Middle School Science Olympiad Team: Practice is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 11th.

  • Student Council Members: Wear your student council shirt this Wednesday for a group picture.  We also have a meeting Wednesday at 7:30 in Mrs Kirby’s room. Wear your shirt!

  • Popcorn will be sold this Friday during your lunch for $1.

  • Dodgeball Tournament sign up sheets are in the office.  The tournament is March 20th so get a team together and come and sign up.

  • Reminder to 8th grade students that the Cravings Popcorn orders are due on Monday, March 16.

  • Today let’s try to acknowledge people as we pass them by.   We can get caught up in feeling we have nothing to give, yet eye contact and a smile are easy to give and make a huge difference to people’s day.

  • Reminder to 8th grade students that the Cravings Popcorn orders are due on Monday, March 16.

  • We have some all round great citizens to report today.  Firstly Anna K, Braxton O, Tryce T, Alexis W and Triton S all received Golden Tickets for making great choices which make the school a nicer place to be.
