  • This week’s kindness challenge is in the spirit of the New Year and New Beginnings: Winston Churchill once said “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”.  Be kind to yourself if you don’t get it right the first time but keep on trying.

  • 8th grade basketball tryouts are today and Tuesday after school until 5:00 and you must have a physical on file to participate. 

  • Yearbooks will only be on sale @ Jostens.com through January 30th.  They CANNOT be ordered after that time!  

  • We have one student birthday today.  Happy Birthday to Levi H!  Have a great day Levi!

  • And now it’s time for Manic Mystery Monday, Teachers please call Extension 1420 when you have heard the entire question::

  • Question: The beginning of the New Year is marked every year by a ball dropping in Times Square.  How long does it take the ball to drop?

  • Answer: A minute.

  • Fun Facts:  The first New Year’s Eve ball drop in Times Square was held in 1907.  Today the ball is 12 feet in diameter and is made with 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles, handmade in Ireland.  It is worth over $1 million.

Announcements 1/7/2020

  • This week’s kindness challenge is in the spirit of the New Year: make a goal.  Dig within, and discover what you would like to have happen in your life this year.  Be specific. Goals give us direction.

  • If you are interested in chess, there is chess club in the high school every Wednesday in room E-3 with Mr Sutliff and Mr Gavenda from 3-4:30pm.

  • Students Challenge will be this Thursday at 7:15AM in the high school woodshop. 

  • Student council will NOT be meeting tomorrow, but will meet next Wednesday at 7:30

  • We have one student's birthday today.  Happy Birthday to Preston Y!  Have a great day Preston!

  • We have the December Students of the Month to celebrate! 

    • 6th Grade - Peyton H and Autumn S

    • 7th Grade - Troy H and Kloie C

    • 8th Grade - Emma H and Jacob K

  • This week’s kindness challenge is about making changes: the real value of setting goals is not the recognition or reward at the end, it’s the person we become by finding the discipline and commitment to achieve the goal.  

  • Chess club in the high school this afternoon from 3-4:30pm in room E-3 with Mr Sutliff and Mr Gavenda.

  • Students Challenge will be this Thursday at 7:15 am  in the high school wood-shop. 

  • Student council will meet next Wednesday at 7:30.

  • National Geography Bee: Anyone interested in competing in the National Geography Bee, please sign up in the office. The preliminary round will be held next Wednesday, January 15th at 1:30 in Mr. Latz’s room. This is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. If you have questions see Mr. Latz.

  • Red Cedar Volleyball forms are available in the MS office for 6-8th Graders.  Forms need to be returned to the office by January 24. 

  • And now it’s time for the happiest time of the week.  It’s Mrs Holley’s Chuckle Time:

    • Question:  What happened to the thief who stole a calendar at the New Year?

    • Answer: He got 12 months.

Announcements 1/9/2020

  • This week’s kindness challenge is about how to make changes: A dream written down with a date becomes a GOAL.  A goal broken down into steps becomes a PLAN. A plan backed by ACTION makes your dreams come true.  

  • 7th grade are in the gym tomorrow morning.  This means all 7th grade drop your stuff in your locker and then make your way to the gym.  If you are not in the gym please walk the main hallway.

  • National Geography Bee: Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade interested in competing in the National Geography Bee, please sign up in the office. The preliminary round will be held next Wednesday, January 15th at 1:30 in Mr. Latz’s room.

  • 8th Grade Student Council members, if you want to attend the January conference in Mount Pleasant with the high school, permission slips and money are due to Mrs. Willbanks by tomorrow. This opportunity is only for 8th grade student council members. 

  • The 8th grade parents are hosting a spring dance on April 11. “Thank you to all the 8th graders that voted the results are in and the winner of the dance theme is...Wish Upon a Star!” More information will be available soon.

  • This week’s kindness challenge is about how to make changes: they say that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.  If you don’t take that first step you’re not going anywhere!

  • National Geography Bee: Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade interested in competing in the National Geography Bee, please sign up in the office. The preliminary round will be held next Wednesday, January 15th at 1:30 in Mr. Latz’s room.

  • We have concessions open this afternoon so stop by on your way out to grab a snack for the road.

  • Happy Birthday to our friends celebrating over the weekend: Lilly K, Jacob B and Tryce T!  Hope that you have a great birthday!

  • We have a number of additions to our positive peers window of fame.  The stars are for students who have gone that extra mile and made the right choice:
