We upgraded our firewall (IBoss) last night to a more robust cloud-based solution. It takes up to 24 hours for updated settings to roll out to all devices, but rebooting your device will speed the process. Virtual learning this Wednesday will be the real test of this solution. You should not constantly see the IBoss screen. Please report to help@ovidelsie.org if you're still having issues.

E. E. Knight will be doing a school-wide rock garden/path project paid for by a grant written and received by Mrs. Travis. The purpose of the project is to have students leave a "footprint" at the school. The positive message in the book Only One You by Linda Kranz is "There is only one you in this great big world...make it a better place." All students will read the book and take part in a discussion of the messages and wisdom shared. Each student will then paint their own "fish" rock and put their name underneath. All of the completed rocks will be put together in a path in front of EEK and each year the path will grow. Please search for the perfect rock with your child and bring to school the first week of school.

Parents and Graduates, As we move forward with this unusual graduation ceremony, there have been many questions about what protocols will be in place.   The following is our plan. Students, for graduation practice, we will meet on the football field at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1.  You are required to wear a mask until we have you placed on the field six feet apart.  Of course, you may leave your mask on if you feel safer that way.  The same protocol will be followed in the evening as we prepare for the ceremony.    Also, please bring your own pen.   On a three by five card you will be writing down how you want your name read at graduation. In the stadium, chairs will be spaced 6 feet apart for students and graduation guests on the field.  There will be no hand shakes or hugs during the ceremony.   Students will flip their own tassel and pick up their diploma after it is placed on a table. Student's Four (4) Parents / Guests- The bleachers will be marked with tape to designate where each graduate's four guests must sit.  There will be six feet of distance between each group.  We had hoped to have more people, but current circumstances simply do not allow it.  Please be conscious of other people and their safety as we move forward.   Here is the link for the live stream of graduation:  nfhsnetwork.com.The ceremony will also be recorded and and released when it is ready.

Graduation and Prom Update: Students, Parents, and Community Members, We had originally rescheduled prom for August 7, 2020. However, our venue, The Michigan Princess (Riverboat) has cancelled their events for the remainder of the year. At this time, the school will not be hosting a prom, our sincerest apologies for this. Mr. Topping and Mrs. McCormick can be emailed and they will refund your tickets if you had already purchased them. Graduation has been confirmed for July 1, 2020 at 7:00 PM. Rain date is July 2, as we do not have an inside venue due to the bond work being done in the schools. Due to government restrictions, attendance will be limited to 4-people per graduate. Students will get their tickets at graduation practice. Students were sent an email with Senior Tea and graduation day expectations. Practice is MANDATORY at 11:00 am. You will not need caps and gowns at practice. We apologize graduation will not be open to the public, but we will be live streaming the event at the following link: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/ovidelsie-high-school-elsie-mi/evtb56bc7a1d6 We appreciate your understanding as we continue to try and navigate this challenging situation and comply with the governor's executive orders.

Attention MS Parents: You can help us with the middle school yearbook. Jostens has a free app called ReplayIt that you can download from the app store or Google Play and install on your phone. ReplayIt will allow you to share your photos with the yearbook advisor and possibly be used in the yearbook. I try to make it to every event possible, but I cannot always be at everything so your photos would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at keith.kingsbury@ovidelsie.org

Ovid-Elsie Middle School Families, Just a reminder that students are not to be dropped off before 7:15 a.m. per student handbook guidelines: BUILDING RULES & CARE OF SCHOOL PROPERTY 1. Students may enter the building after 7:15 a.m. If a student comes to school before 7:15 a.m., it must be for a school-supervised activity (band, chorus, extra help.) 4. All students not involved in a supervised school sponsored activity are to leave the building by 3:15 p.m. Once students are dismissed, they are not to return to the building. Only students who have valid reasons for returning may do so, and they must report to the office and receive clearance to re-enter the school. In accordance with the above guidelines, doors will remain locked until 7:15 a.m., beginning Monday, February 25th. While we would like to be accommodating and allow early drop off of students, it is our concern that dropping off students before adult supervision is in place could foster an unsafe environment. We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter and look forward to working with you to provide a safe and supervised educational environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the middle school office at (989) 862-4238. If you would like to request bussing please contact Carla Perrien in the transportation department at (989) 834-2271 Ext.1560.

Witt Breaks All-Time Assist Record as OE wins 61-10 Senior Erin Witt will hoist her name on to the record board for the second time as her five assists broke the all-time record previously held by Kayla Galecka. Last year Witt broke the single-season record. "I'm so happy for Erin and so proud of her effort. She has put in so much work to get her to this point and her teammates were genuinely happy for her," Head Coach Ryan Cunningham said. "This was a nice team win where a lot of kids contributed tonight." Caitlyn Walter and Kylee Sevenski led the Lady Marauders (2-1, 1-0) with 12 points each while Lauren Barton added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Witt also had 8 points and 9 rebounds to go along with her 5 assists. Kennedy Haynes, Josie Nash and Kierah Darling each added 4 points, Micayla Coleman 3 points, Madison Cunningham 2 points and Kylie Visger 1 to round out the scoring for OE. The Lady Marauders will host league foe and powerhouse Byron on Tuesday night.

In an effort to make sure every student has O-E Blue and Gold for our "Blue and Gold" Fridays, Ovid-Elsie clothing is being collected to pass out to students who do not have O-E clothing. Please dig through your closets and look for clothing that is gently used and does not have names that you are willing to donate to the cause. Please drop off to Dana Blank at 2130 N. Hollister Rd. (there will be a bin there) or drop off at Ovid-Elsie High School in care of Ms. Blank. She will help distribute these items so ALL kids come to school dressed in Blue and Gold EVERY Friday! Go Marauders!
