Please consider supporting our winter student-athletes with this unique fundraiser! https://5il.co/od1c

A message from Coach Latz: We hope all of you have been staying safe and healthy during these challenging times. COVID-19 has impacted us all in some way, and we are no exception to that. It is looking like it's possible we may not have fans in our gym stands this winter, but you can certainly still be there on a cutout, showing each of our student-athletes support. Please consider donating to the program and sharing via email, text, and social media to any and all friends or family members so we may reach our goal to pack the gym with our "virtual fans" for all of our basketball games! Your donations and support are greatly appreciated and we are so grateful. Thank you so much for your support! Go Marauders!!

Thrillshare Announcement Regarding OEMS Q1 Report Cards
Good Morning OEMS Families,
Grades in PowerSchool have been finalized for our first marking period. If you don’t already have the PowerSchool App on your phone, it is available to download for free on smart phones and provides an easy and convenient way of keeping up to date with your student’s grades. If you have concerns about your PowerSchool Parent Account please contact help@ovidelsie.org.
Paper report cards have been sent home today with face-to-face students and are available to pick up for virtual students through next week, between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri and 7:30 am to 12:30 pm Wed.

Middle and high school virtual conferences are tonight! Links to virtual meetings will be sent out at 4:55 to your student's email address. Please do not click on the link until your scheduled time with each teacher.

There is still time to sign up at https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Ovid_Elsie_Middle_School for OEMS Parent Teacher Conferences if you have concerns regarding your child's performance in one or more classes. Conferences will be held in a Google Meet format today, from 5:00 to 8:30 pm

Dear Marauder High School Families:
We are providing this letter as a preventative measure because our area continues to have a rise in Covid cases. In the event we have to go to a 100% virtual format - we will be adjusting our schedule to meet the many needs identified by parents and students to help with successful at home learning. We are not making any changes as of right now, but in this rapidly changing environment, we often have little time to communicate if an outbreak occurs and we need to stop offering face to face instruction as an option. Again, we are not making changes right now and this document identifies our high school's plan if we go to 100% virtual. Thank you for your understanding and support as we all try to help your child navigate the many challenges we are all facing.

We upgraded our firewall (IBoss) last night to a more robust cloud-based solution. It takes up to 24 hours for updated settings to roll out to all devices, but rebooting your device will speed the process. Virtual learning this Wednesday will be the real test of this solution. You should not constantly see the IBoss screen. Please report to help@ovidelsie.org if you're still having issues.

Marauder Families - keep up the great work! Your care and diligence is helping us move along! https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/0,9753,7-406-98163_98173_102480---,00.html #MaskUp #MarauderUp

Good afternoon E. E. Knight parents. As a reminder, our building opens at 8:00am this year. Please do not drop students off or have them walk up to the school prior to 8:00am. This will
help in our effort to keep students from congregating together. Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe!

Marauder Families - Please be careful when walking to school/bus stops. PLEASE use sidewalks and look both directions before crossing a road. (Students should not walk down the middle of the road.) PLEASE talk with your students - we do not need any accidents! Thanks! Dr. C

OEHS Student Services created a blog to provide parents with up to date information regarding our department, including resources for supporting their children. It will be updated at least biweekly! https://maraudercounselorconnection.wordpress.com/

Good Morning Marauder Families. We are experiencing phone issues and Frontier is sending a technician out. If you need to reach your students building please email the buildings administrative assistant.

Just a reminder to our F2F students, don't forget to charge your device and bring it to school tomorrow! =)

Starting Thursday, September 10, the varsity locker rooms will be opened in the morning so athletes can drop off their athletic bags and equipment. You should bring your own lock for the locker. We are not responsible for items left in the locker room. Do not put valuable items in your locker. Also, keep two lockers between you and the next person.

We have a known issue with our firewall that we share with multiple districts. Because of heavy network traffic you may see an "IBOSS" screen pop up that prevents online students from accessing resources. We hope to have it resolved soon. Turning your device off and on may help.

Marauder Virtual Program students and parents: If you were unable to pick up a device last week, please come to the front office of your students' building 4pm-6pm on Tuesday 9/8. High School Yearbooks can be picked up at the high school during this time as well. There will also be a materials/book pickup for SPECIFIC virtual High School classes 4pm-6pm, please check this list to see if this pertains to your student: https://5il.co/klgy Please call the relevant building if you need to make a different arrangement.

Just a reminder that Wednesday (tomorrow) is a remote learning day for all students. Thank you to everyone for a great first day and we'll see you on Thursday!

They Are In! The 2019-20 OE High School Yearbooks are in and they are beautiful! If you ordered a yearbook, come pick yours up at the pass out event Tuesday, Sept. 8th, from 4 to 6 p.m., in front of the high school office. If you did not purchase a yearbook, but really want one because they are awesome, we have a limited supply available for $70.

Marauder Virtual Program students and parents: If you were unable to pick up a device today you may come to the front office of your students' building 9am-2pm and 4pm-6pm on Tuesday 9/8.

Dear Marauder Families,
Instructional choice mode of face to face or virtual window is closed. You may change your instructional choice the week of September 28-October 2, and begin a different mode of instruction on October 5. Please don't let your child call the school to make changes, parents will do that.

Please see this important message from the State of Michigan. https://5il.co/khlc You may also refer to https://www.ovidelsie.org/return-to-school--6 for specific information for Ovid-Elsie Area Schools.

E. E. Knight will be doing a school-wide rock garden/path project paid for by a grant written and received by Mrs. Travis.
The purpose of the project is to have students leave a "footprint" at the school. The positive message in the book Only One You by Linda Kranz is "There is only one you in this great big world...make it a better place." All students will read the book and take part in a discussion of the messages and wisdom shared. Each student will then paint their own "fish" rock and put their name underneath.
All of the completed rocks will be put together in a path in front of EEK and each year the path will grow.
Please search for the perfect rock with your child and bring to school the first week of school.

You should have received an email with your child’s teacher for the 20-21 school year. If you have not received an email indicating your child’s teacher, please contact the front office. The elementary buildings will be hosting a drive by Greet, Grab and Go on Wednesday, September 2. Meet and greet your new teachers. Grab your essential tools and information for the upcoming year. Leonard Elementary will take place from 5:30-7:00pm and E. E. Knight will take place from 5:00-6:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Parents and Graduates,
As we move forward with this unusual graduation ceremony, there have been many questions about what protocols will be in place. The following is our plan.
Students, for graduation practice, we will meet on the football field at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1. You are required to wear a mask until we have you placed on the field six feet apart. Of course, you may leave your mask on if you feel safer that way. The same protocol will be followed in the evening as we prepare for the ceremony. Also, please bring your own pen. On a three by five card you will be writing down how you want your name read at graduation.
In the stadium, chairs will be spaced 6 feet apart for students and graduation guests on the field. There will be no hand shakes or hugs during the ceremony. Students will flip their own tassel and pick up their diploma after it is placed on a table.
Student's Four (4) Parents / Guests- The bleachers will be marked with tape to designate where each graduate's four guests must sit. There will be six feet of distance between each group. We had hoped to have more people, but current circumstances simply do not allow it. Please be conscious of other people and their safety as we move forward.
Here is the link for the live stream of graduation: nfhsnetwork.com.The ceremony will also be recorded and and released when it is ready.

Graduation and Prom Update:
Students, Parents, and Community Members,
We had originally rescheduled prom for August 7, 2020. However, our venue, The Michigan Princess (Riverboat) has cancelled their events for the remainder of the year. At this time, the school will not be hosting a prom, our sincerest apologies for this. Mr. Topping and Mrs. McCormick can be emailed and they will refund your tickets if you had already purchased them.
Graduation has been confirmed for July 1, 2020 at 7:00 PM. Rain date is July 2, as we do not have an inside venue due to the bond work being done in the schools. Due to government restrictions, attendance will be limited to 4-people per graduate. Students will get their tickets at graduation practice. Students were sent an email with Senior Tea and graduation day expectations. Practice is MANDATORY at 11:00 am. You will not need caps and gowns at practice. We apologize graduation will not be open to the public, but we will be live streaming the event at the following link: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/ovidelsie-high-school-elsie-mi/evtb56bc7a1d6
We appreciate your understanding as we continue to try and navigate this challenging situation and comply with the governor's executive orders.

Ovid-Elsie Middle School Families,
Just a reminder that students are not to be dropped off before 7:15 a.m. per student handbook guidelines:
BUILDING RULES & CARE OF SCHOOL PROPERTY
1. Students may enter the building after 7:15 a.m. If a student comes to school before 7:15 a.m., it must be for a school-supervised activity (band, chorus, extra help.)
4. All students not involved in a supervised school sponsored activity are to leave the building by 3:15 p.m. Once students are dismissed, they are not to return to the building. Only students who have valid reasons for returning may do so, and they must report to the office and receive clearance to re-enter the school.
In accordance with the above guidelines, doors will remain locked until 7:15 a.m., beginning Monday, February 25th. While we would like to be accommodating and allow early drop off of students, it is our concern that dropping off students before adult supervision is in place could foster an unsafe environment. We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter and look forward to working with you to provide a safe and supervised educational environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the middle school office at (989) 862-4238.
